What the project needed.

BeatTune connected directly to the Apple Watch optical pulse sensor via HealthKit, rendering instantaneous heart rate graphs on the wrist and syncing long-term cardiac trends to iPhone.

What I shipped.

  • Built one of the earliest third-party HealthKit sensor apps for Apple Watch in 2015.
  • Developed real-time heart rate anomaly detection algorithms comparing active exertion against baseline rates.
  • Engineered low-power watchOS background sensor processing to conserve battery life.
  • Achieved Top 3 in Health & Fitness on the German App Store and won AppAdvice Best Apple Watch App 2015.

Technical architecture & leadership.

  • Designed and engineered the full iOS and watchOS app from concept to App Store distribution.
  • Created custom Core Graphics visualizations for real-time cardiac waveforms.

Results in production.

  • Over 100 upvotes on Product Hunt, featured by AppAdvice as one of the best Apple Watch apps of 2015.
