What the project needed.

Cachivache Media was an independent digital culture publication. The app acted as a specialized offline "Pocket", downloading entire editions in seconds when connected, then allowing hours of offline reading.

What I shipped.

  • Built a custom offline sync engine scraping and formatting Medium posts for fast local Core Data storage.
  • Optimized network payloads for readers facing expensive public Wi-Fi hotspots in Cuba.
  • Featured rich typography, tag filtering, full-text offline search, and local reader preferences.

Technical architecture & leadership.

  • Solo developer: parser, Core Data database schema, caching engine, UI layout, and App Store submission.

Results in production.

  • Delivered uncensored, reliable digital access to thousands of readers throughout Cuba.
