Privacy Policy
Last Updated: July 1, 2026
Notebook for Lifters (referred to as "we", "us", or "our") values and respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy details our commitment to data ownership and privacy-first engineering practices. It applies to both our website (the "Site") and the iOS mobile application (the "App").
1. Local-First Design (Your Lifting Data)
We believe your workout history belongs to you, not to us. The App is designed as a local-first utility:
- No Database Server: We do not run databases to host your lifting logs, routines, spaces, or preferences. All training information is stored locally on your device in a secure, local SwiftData storage container.
- No App Account: You do not need to create an account, register an email, or sign in via third-party providers (like Apple or Google) to use the App.
- No Transmission of Workouts: Your exercises, weight values, rep completions, and timers remain 100% offline. We cannot read, analyze, sell, or access your training data because it never leaves your physical phone.
2. Data Collection on Our Website
The only information we collect on our Site is the contact data you explicitly and voluntarily provide when joining our TestFlight waitlist:
- Email Address & Notes: If you sign up for waitlist access, we collect your email address and any voluntary context notes (such as your current gym app preferences) to verify your interest and send you beta test invites.
- Service Provider: We use secure, compliant email and landing page database managers to process and store waitlist submissions. These services are contractually prohibited from selling, sharing, or using your contact information for any purpose other than delivering Notebook for Lifters updates.
- Unsubscribe: You may request to be completely removed from the waitlist database at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link inside our emails or emailing us directly.
3. Third-Party Analytics and Crash Logs
To help us debug and maintain the stability of the App, we may utilize standard platforms provided by Apple:
- Apple App Store Connect / TestFlight: If you opt-in to sharing developer diagnostics or crash reports in your iOS settings, Apple provides us with anonymized crash logs. These logs contain technical information (e.g., device model, iOS version, and stack traces) but do not contain any personally identifiable information or your training logs.
4. Data Portability & Deletion
Because your data is stored locally, you are in complete control of it:
- Exporting: You can export your entire training history into structured JSON or human-readable Markdown files at any time using the App's native settings.
- Deletion: Uninstalling the App from your device will immediately delete all local workout records, routines, and space configurations. This process is permanent and cannot be undone by us, as we do not keep backups on any server.
5. Children's Privacy
Our App and Site are not directed at children under the age of 13. Because we do not collect personal data from App users, we do not knowingly solicit or collect information from children.
6. Compliance with Apple App Store Policy
This policy complies with Apple's App Store Guidelines (Section 5.1.1 regarding User Data Privacy). By using this App, you consent to the storage of your logs locally on your hardware device and the collection of waitlist details if you subscribe online.
7. Contact Us
If you have any questions regarding our local-first data model or wish to delete your waitlist email from our servers, please contact us through the waitlist email channels.
